Post Budget Panel Discussion on 7th February, 2018


JMS Kalkaji organised a Panel Discussion on Union Budget 2018-19 on 7th February'18 at its Auditorium. The programme facilitated an informed discussion on the Union Budget 2018-19. The discussion was focused on the policy priorities in the Budget and its implications for different sections of the population. The event witnessed an enthusiastic participation from the experts, academia, and the students. The program was graced by the presence of eminent personalities - Dr. S. P. Sharma, Chief Economist, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Sunil Kapoor, Financial Consultant and Taxation Adviser of repute and Mr. Praveen Kataria, practicing Chartered Accountant were present as dignified panel members.
BBA/BCom (H)Students Tushar Negi, Deepanshi, Aman Sherawat, Shubhendra, Daniyal Usmani,  Himanshi Mangla, Yash Vardhan & Shreya Sood, came up with interesting questions on Bitcoin and Blockchain technology, MSP on crops, significance of E-way Bill, the justification of imposition of Long Term Capital  Gain Tax and were answered by the panelists to their satisfaction. Dr. Batra concluded the session with a vote of thanks and with heartfelt expectation that the real beneficiary of the budget actually gets the benefits. That will truly take our economy ahead. The session ended with this underlying dream for a better and prosperous India.

 

National Seminar on “Relationship Marketing- Opportunities and Challenges” on 3rd February, 2018


JIMS Kalkaji organized a National Seminar on “Relationship Marketing: Opportunities and Challenges” on 3rd Feb, 2018. The Seminar started by invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati.
Mr. Anurag Sharma, General Manager – Clarks India, Guest of Honour highlighted the significance of relationship marketing in emerging economies. He raised the perspectives on the evolution of relationship marketing and understanding the various issues associated with it. He elaborated the 80:20 rule and the significance of Customer Pyramid in relationship marketing.  Ms. Bhavna Kapur in her ‘Strengthening Relationship’ theme categorically mentioned that consumers and employees are equally important for the organization. She highlighted the examples of how relationship marketing is carried forward at HCL Technologies. In the first technical session, Mr Anurag Sharma, ignited the audience by sharing his thoughts on “Enhancing Business Performance through Relationship Marketing”. In the second technical session, Mr. Rajshekhar Malaviya, CEO, Promodome Communcations, mentioned how advertisement and digital marketing can be linked with the relationship marketing. Following the discussion, Mr. Rajeev Gupta, Business Head, PCS, Reliance Retail, elaborated the process of relationship marketing along with the latest techniques adopted for the same.

Workshop on “Decoding Interviews: The Secret to Going Home with A Job That You Want!”


A workshop on the topic: ‘Decoding Interviews: The Secret to Going Home with A Job That You Want’ was organized for BBA/Bcom (H) students by Jagannath International Management School (JIMS) Kalkaji on Monday, 23rd January 2017. Mr. Vipul Rawat from UGEN, an Employability Skills Academy was the Guest Speaker for the workshop. He discussed crucial aspects of personalities such as strengths and weaknesses and subsequently opportunities and threats based upon one’s relevance for industries that one may want to work with. It was emphasized that in order to be successful one must keep abreast of industry trends and requirements. With his immense knowledge and expertise the session was very enriching and greatly contributed to the overall learning experience of the students. 

Workshop on “Placement interviews” on 2nd December, 2017


A workshop on the topic: ‘Placement Interviews" was organized for BBA/Bcom (H) students by Jagannath International Management School (JIMS) Kalkaji on Saturday, 2nd December 2017 by Mr. Rupak Agarwal , Founder and CEO,  Eveueme. He discussed the 5 Mantras about what interviewers look for like Collaboration Vs Competitive Mindset, Asking intelligent questions Vs simply directing, presentation skills to energize people around oneself, People skills Vs technical skills and lastly the Art of detailing.Also, there was a simulated live interview for students. He emphasized on the leadership behavioural skills like leading self, leading others and leading business. With his practical demonstration through the software for interview analysis , his knowledge and expertise the session was very enriching and greatly contributed specially  to the overall learning experience of the senior batch students. 

 

National Seminar on ‘India's Exports: Role of MSMEs and Impact of GST’ on November 22, 2017

Micro, small- and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) play a key role in national development for both developing and developed nations. MSMEs increase competition, generate employment and develop entrepreneurship while boosting economic vitality at the community level and creating sustainable livelihoods. The Goods and Services Tax (GST) has been heralded as the biggest indirect tax reform in India after Independence. With this background, JIMS Kalkaji with the Federation of Indian Export Organizations, organised a National Seminar on ‘India's Exports: Role of MSMEs and Impact of GST’ on November 22, 2017. Students from BBA and Bcom (H) attended this seminar.

 

E-Week from 7th – 11th Nov, 2017


JIMS Kalkaji recently witnessed a glorious week which was elaborately themed after “Entrepreneurship”. The week took our students, faculty and participants even from outside the JIMS campus through a journey that touched each and every aspect of entrepreneurship and management. This was accomplished through several events competitions and activities. Over 250 participants from more than 35 colleges from Delhi University, GGSIP University and AICTE approved Management colleges entered these events and displayed their mantle. Our institute was fortunate to welcome participation from renowned institutes such as  IIFT,  SRCC , Shaheed Sukdev Singh College of Business Studies, Moti Lal Nehru,  Jamia, Milia Islamia,  Lady Sriram, Bharti Vidyapeeth, , Kalindi College, Deshbandhu, Dayal singh, Fostima, Acahrya Narandra Dev,  Amity, Asian Business School, Manav Rachna University, Kamla Nehru College, IILM, FOSTIMA  amongst many others. The events saw a number of start-up founders share their journey, experience and insight into strengthening the entrepreneurial eco­- system amongst students. Active participation was witnessed in events like Business quiz, Treasure Hunt, T-Shirt Painting, Campus company, Chalchitra, IPL Auction and above all Business Plan competition where  participants presented their elaborate, innovative and thought provoking business plans that thoroughly impressed the audience. Certificates, cash prizes, VLCC & Smash Vouchers, BTW gift hampers were given away to the winners of several competitions held over the week. The week surpassed all expectations and filled everyone with exhilaration and inspiration.

 

Workshop on ‘Positivity and Work-Life Balance’ on October 7, 2017
Positive Thoughts Generate Positive Results! 


Keeping the above in mind, a workshop was organized by JIMS Kalkaji on the topic: 'Positivity and Work-life Balance' on October 7, 2017. Mr. Puneet Gupta, Training Consultant, Dale Carnegie, India was the Trainer of the day. The session began with an anecdote and further garnered self motivational aspects as to what leads to negative thinking and how positive thinking can become permanent.
Taking in stride that 'Clear goals make life simple' all workshop delegates under a team-building activity were given a task to chart-out and present their goals. A discussion ensued as to how to eliminate negative thoughts from all spheres of life. Several activities such as creative thinking, meditation and problem-solving was carried out. The session was highly appreciated as it was very informative and interactive. Dr. J.K. Batra, Director, JIMS Kalkaji delivered vote of thanks and presented memento.

 

National HR Seminar On “Corporate Governance, Social Responsibility and Sustainability” on 16th Sep, 2017

A National Seminar on “Corporate Governance, Social Responsibility, and Sustainability ”, was conducted on 16th September, 2017. Dr. (Cdr.) Satish Seth, Director General, JIMS Kalkaji gave welcome address in which he highlighted the importance of the topic in current scenario. Mr. Kamal Singh, Executive Director, UN Global Compact Network India, Guest of Honour, highlighted the way companies have achieved ethical standards and addressing the concerns and expectations of Stakeholders. He highlighted the importance of corporate governance that can be built to enhance responsible business operations. Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, Chief Guest, Chair, FICCI, Committee on sustainable development, threw light upon the importance of CSR strategies adopted by some of the renowned corporations and how NGO’s have contributed towards social development.

 

National Seminar on India’s Changing Economic Landscape: Trends and Opportunities in Entrepreneurship, on 12th Aug, 2017

A National Seminar on “India’s Changing Economic Landscape: Trends and Opportunities in Entrepreneurship”, was conducted on 12th Aug, 2017. Dr. (Cdr.) Satish Seth, Director General, JIMS Kalkaji gave welcome address in which he highlighted the importance of the topic in current scenario. Dr Rishi Raj Singh, Director (Training) NIESBUD, Guest of Honour, highlighted the Government Policies and Initiatives to Foster Entrepreneurship among youth.  He highlighted the importance of innovation in entrepreneurship and shared his experiences on growth factor in different companies.  Mr T S Ahluwalia, Director, Dharmvir Exports Pvt Ltd. Guest of Honor threw light upon how India has shifted from an underdeveloped to a developing country, and then taking the final steps towards the developed economies through the mode of entrepreneurship.

 

National Seminar on “Digital Financial Inclusion: An Accelerator to Cash less Economy” on 18th March, 2017

The National Finance Seminar on “Digital Financial Inclusion: an Accelerator to Cashless Economy” was organised by Jagannath International Management School (JIMS Kalkaji) on Saturday, March 18, 2017. Dr. (Cdr.) Satish Seth, Director General, JIMS Kalkaji in his welcome address welcomed the Guests of Honour and concurred that cashless economy is the need of the hour and that Financial Inclusion is an essential prerequisite for economic development of the country.

The Guest of Honour, Mr. Mohd. Abdul Mateen, Sr. Vice-President-Finance, British Paints set the ball rolling by introducing the key theme. In his eloquent address he spoke it will enhance transparency, bring in the informal unorganized sector in the formal domain and spoke about the challenges involved in bringing about this change to reflect the real GDP growth rate. He spoke on role of m-wallets, POS and other initiatives like BHIM app in achieving financial inclusion. His insights on costs involved in handling cash incurred by RBI and challenges ahead for a country like India highlighted the key issues. The other Guest of Honour, Mr.Vikas Arora, Chief Financial and Commercial Officer, Karam Industries in his address  spoke about the huge potential lying untapped and the role of technology in bringing about this transition. He lucidly explained the how technology solutions like ERP, mobile apps can bring down the operational costs.

 

National Seminar On “Changing Consumer Trends in Indian Rural Markets- Perspectives, Practices and Prospects”

JIMS Kalkaji in association with NIESBUD, FICCI and RMAI commenced a National Seminar on “Changing Consumer Trends in Indian Rural Markets- Perspectives, Practices and Prospects” on 18th Feb, 2017. The seminar started by invoking the blessings of Maa Saraswati. Dr. (Cdr.) Satish Seth, Director General, JIMS Kalkaji in his inaugural address posited about incorporating ‘design-thinking’ in products and services being offered to the rural audience. Dr. Rishi Raj Singh, Director-Training, NIESBUD, Guest of Honour highlighted the role of rural entrepreneurs in shaping Modern India. He discussed the importance of creating trust in the rural market to drive sales. Ms. Kalpana Kaul, Executive Member,  RMAI in her ‘Rural Rethink’ theme categorically mentioned that consumers are consumers; rural or urban is a mindset. She highlighted the total TG in Rural India is 833 million which is the combined population of European Union and USA.  The live examples of Mercedes-Benz, Bharti i-Airtel, HUL and many others drove home the point that rural is where the adventure begins for the Gold Rush.

 

National Seminar on ‘Tapping into Global Emerging Markets: Issues, Challenges and Strategies on 24th Nov, 2016

The National Seminar on ‘Tapping into Global Emerging Markets: Issues, Challenges and Strategies’ was held on Thursday, 24th Nov, 2016. The seminar was commenced by invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. Director General Dr. (Cdr.) Satish Seth welcomed the dignitaries and delegates from FIEO and informed about the giant strides made by JIMS Kalkaji in the field of higher professional education. The Chief Guest Mr. TS Ahluwalia, Member-Managing Committee and MSME Committee, FIEO in his inaugural address spoke at length about the emerging markets. He said that India is in the top FOURamongst the 50 emerging markets in the world. And the time is ripe to take advantage of the global opportunities as rate of growth in China is on decline. E-commerce and Medical Tourism are growing by leaps and bounds. In a candid advice to students, he said learning is nothing but sharing of experiences.

 

National HR Seminar on ‘ Leveraging People Analytics to Achieve R Excellence’ held on 17th September, 2016

Jagannath International Management School (JIMS) Kalkaji, New Delhi organised the National HR Seminar on the theme “Leveraging People Analytics to Achieve HR Excellence’” on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at JIMS, Kalkaji. The seminar was inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial lamp to invoke the blessings of Goddess of Knowledge. Dr. (Cdr.) Satish Seth in his welcome address spoke on how HR has evolved over the years to emerge as a game-changer for future. He welcomed the august gathering comprising of corporate professionals, academia, research scholars and students and focussed on importance of ‘People  Analytics’ as the Holy Grail for organisational excellence.

The Guest of Honour, Ms. Anju Uppal, General Manager-AIMIL in her keynote emphasised that time is changing faster than ever and organisations will have new challenges to deal with in changing times. She explained that People Analytics is the use of data and data analysis techniques to understand, improve, and optimize the people side of business.  Mr. Manmohan Bhutani, VP (HR) and Business Operations, American Cyber Systems said that ‘Intangible is the new tangible’ . The journey of HR over the years has changed from being Reactive to Proactive and now, Predictive.People analytics is mainly just bringing data where data hasn’t been used before to make more informed decisions based on evidence rather than hunches. Dr. Rajeev Ranjan , Head and VP(HR)-UEM espoused on the synergy between HR Data, Business Data and Data from other sources to find solutions for challenges faced in People Management. He explained that People Analytics redefines the ways in which data is used to manage Human Asset within the organization in a way that establishes a positive impact on overall business. Ms. Abhilasha Dhaka, Head-HR-GE spoke of her journey in the corporate form being in the Personnel department to HR which is now the backbone of the business. She said that irrespective of functional domain people have to work with data at all times and churn the data to reveal new insights for future.

 

 

British Council Business and Management Mission Seminar

British Council Business and Management Mission Seminar was held on 23rd September, 2016 at JIMS Kalkaji Auditorium. Academicians from famous UK universities (The university of Northampton, Staffordshire University, University of Plymouth, University of Southampton and Aston Business School) spoke about the universities and business topics. Students from BBA and Bcom (H) attended this seminar. 

Students also got an insight of higher studies in the UK.

    

    

 

 

 

National Seminar on Social, Green and Technological Entrepreneurship in India : A Paradigm Shift on 13th Aug, 2016

A National Seminar on “Social, Green and Technological Entrepreneurship in India: A Paradigm Shift” was conducted on 13th August 2016 .Dr. (Cdr.) Satish Seth, Director General, JIMS Kalkaji gave welcome address in which he highlighted the importance of the topic in current scenario. Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Mittal, Dean, IP University, Chief Guest highlighted the importance of an entrepreneur as a catalyst for change and also stressed on the many challenges faced by them such as lack of sustained motivation, raising capital, assembling a team , finding good customers, instability in government policies etc. However, the session provided unique solutions to these unforeseen challenges and ways to keep up with the industrial dynamism. Dr. Rishi Raj Singh, Director, NIESBUD, brought to our awareness the Government Policies, Programs, Economic Policies and New Venture Creativity. Ms. Saloni Malhotra, VP, Paytm, talked on Emerging Opportunities of Entrepreneurship in India: A case of Paytm. Mr. Ashish Beergi, A Social Entrepreneur and Co-Founder-MASH Project talked on how to enhance Entrepreneurship and Building Entrepreneurial Society in a developing Ecosystem. Dr. J. K. Batra, Director, JIMS Kalkaji gave vote of thanks and motivated students to see Entrepreneurship as an important career option and become job creators rather than job seekers.

National Finance Seminar on 19th March, 2016

A National Finance Seminar on the contemporary theme titled ‘Financial fraud prevention,Cyber Security,Forensic Audit and Digital Forensics’ was organized by JIMS Kalkaji on March 19, 2016. The session commenced by invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. The Director General Dr. (Cdr.) Satish Seth in his inaugural address welcomed the Guests of Honour Mr. Deepak Garg, Chairman, Northern India Regional Council (NIRC), Mr. Rajender Arora, Chairman, Northern India Chartered Accountants Students Association (NICASA) the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and Mr.Vivek Agarwal, Partner, Fraud Investigation and Dispute Service, Ernst & Young (E&Y)
Mr. Vivek Agarwal marked the comprehensive beginning of seminar with how increasing usage of computers and Information Technology in Financial sector has led to greater chance of a cyber crime and a financial fraud being committed. Mr. Rajender Arora spoke about the changing nature of financial frauds from simple to complex digital frauds. Further, valuable insights were added by Mr. Deepak Garg who spoke about developing valuable traits in finance professionals h integrity and responsibility. Mr. Garg shared with the audience effective fraud prevention techniques.
In Technical Session I, Mr. Naresh Shukla, Manager, Accenture spoke about technicalities of identification of financial frauds and financial fraud prevention. He further threw light on encourage of ethical culture within organizations and developing Fraud Resistant Organizations. In Technical Session II, Ms. Soniya Gupta, Company Secretary & Consultant discussed various types of cybercrimes and also spoke about Cyber Laws and National Cyber Security Policy 2013 of India. In Technical Session III, Mr.Eish Taneja, Senior Trainer & Consultant, Deloitte for US, discussed about Forensic Audit & Digital Forensics. He explained with the help of many case studies the principles of forensics accounting.
The seminar was highly appreciated by the participating delegates, guests, students and faculty members. Dr J K Batra, Director, JIMS Kalkaji expressed appreciation and acknowledged all the speakers with his vote of thanks which concluded the session.

National Marketing Seminar on 6th Feb, 2016

A National Seminar on “Marketing for Small and Medium Enterprises-Role, Challenges and Future of Entrepreneurial Marketing” in collaboration with The National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development(NIESBUD) was held on 6th February 2016 at JIMS Kalkaji.
This seminar was designed to achieve the following objectives:
To Understand the role of SME’s in Nation Building
To create awareness of the various marketing practices adopted by SME’s
To identify, integrate and chart a future road map for marketing by SME’s
The Seminar focused on theme areas of SME’s, Impact of e-commerce on SME’s, Effect of entrepreneurial marketing on innovation, Marketing and Competitiveness of SMEs and challenges for future growth of SMEs. The Seminar was intended for corporate managers at all levels including academicians, students, research scholars seeking to enhance awareness and knowledge of trends and practices in the field of SME’s and Entrepreneurial Marketing. The guest of honour for the seminar was Dr. Rishi Raj Singh, Director of Training from NIESBUD and his address was invigorating for the budding entrepreneurs.
There were three more distinguished speakers for delivering an address on the practice of entrepreneurship. Mr Vivek Kumar, Director , SME Networks addressed the audience on Creation of Entrepreneurship Environment in the Country. Mr Kuldeep Sharma, Founder and CEO, Suruchi Consultants proceeded with his session on Entrepreneurial Marketing and Innovation. Ms Rita Sengupta, consultant and Facilitator and Ex Director NIESBUD talked about Business Opportunity Identification. The students were intrigued with all the information and knowledge shared on this platform and also interacted with the speakers on further development of their idea generations. Dr J K Batra, Director, JIMS Kalkaji expressed appreciation and acknowledged all the speakers with his vote of thanks which concluded the session.

National HR Seminar on 12th Sep, 2015

Jagannath International Management School (JIMS) Kalkaji, New Delhi in association with the Indian Society for Training & Development (ISTD), New Delhi organised the seminar on the theme “Changing HR Landscape in the 21st century – Issues and Challenges for India Inc.” on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at JIMS, Kalkaji. The session commenced by invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. The Director General Dr. (Cdr.) Satish Seth in his inaugural address welcomed the Chief Guest, Prof. DK Banwet, former Head of Department of Management studies (IITD) and highlighted the importance of how organisations of future will bear little resemblance to organisations of today. His insights on burning issues like virtual workforce and out-tasking opened the forum for further deliberations. The Chief Guest, Prof. D. K. Banwet in his inaugural address emphasised on how change is the only constant in this world and implored the participants to be agile, adaptable and alive to how businesses are evolving in this networked economy. Mr. Manmohan Bhutani, Vice President (HR) & Business Operations-American CyberSystems elaborated on Leadership in the 21st Century – Issues and Challenges. He emphasised the how he Situational Leadership theory propounded by Ken Blanchard is relevant for the VUCA world. Mr. Siddharth Ghosh, Manager (Project) -Orange Business Services discussed on the issues that confront businesses in Managing Multi – Cultural Teams. He discussed how diversity issues and barriers can be overcome by careful selection and training and developing cross-cultural skills. Mr. K Venkat Subramaniyan, Project Manager, British Telecom discussed about modern recruitment metrics being increasingly adopted by organisations in his address on the theme of E-Recruitment, Selection and Retention. The session concluded by valedictory remarks on this theme by the Director, Dr. J. K. Batra highlighting the ethical issues as a major HR challenge causing incredible number of pressures in today’s organizations.

Further, valuable insights were added through Mr. Vikas Arora, Vice President-Mid Market Business Segment, Yes Bank delineated upon many upcoming trends like digital payments, IMPS, White Label ATMs, NACH, RuPay, Aadhar Enabled Payment System. Mr. Shakti Singh, General Manager, StarFin Pvt. Ltd. discussed upon the technology advancement in financial inclusion. Mr. Kanwaldeep Singh, Manager, ICICI Bank, talked on banking through social media. Mr. Sameer Saraf, Manager-Sales, Paytm and Mr. Deep Neekhra, Manager, Inbound Sales, Paytym talked about digital payment gateways and the strategies to deal with cyber threats. The Chief Guest, Mr. Ajay Sharma, Director Momentum Worldwide (Mccan Group) was welcomed by Dr. (Cdr.) Satish Seth, Director, JIMS Kalkaji and Dr. J. K. Batra, Dean, JIMS Kalkaji. The marketing seminar highlighted that today the world is changing at a faster pace than ever before. Not only social and political developments, but technological changes are shaping modern human life. The triumph of the Internet has not only changed the way we access information, but also the way we communicate. The age of mass communication is slowly being replaced by the age of social media as technology, without question, has played a key role in the changing marketing panorama. National HR Seminar on 6th September, 2014

A National HR Seminar on the contemporary theme: “Women in Leadership Roles: Navigating Pathways to Career Success” was organized by JIMS, Kalkaji in collaboration with ISTD on September 6, 2014. Dr. D K Banwet Professor, IIT Delhi, Ms. Anju Uppal GM (HR), AIMIL Ltd., and Dr. Anjali Nigam CEO & Founder Director, White Swan Consulting Group were the guests of honor who explicated on the most vibrant and sensitive theme of the day. The audience was further encouraged to rummage upon by Ms. Poornima Saxena VP (Sales Analytics & Operations), GENPACT and Ms. Madhulika Makar Director, Mirus Pvt. Ltd. The session deliberated on the relevance of vision and confidence that goes into making a choice and how the turbulence of change can be made a facile process.

National Finance Seminar 2014

A National Finance Seminar was organized by JIMS kalkaji on 8th March 2014 on a contemporary issue titled , Financial Frauds ; White Collar Crime: Regulatory Framework, Measures and Investors Awareness . The chief guest was Mr. Anil Sinha, Regional Head (South Asia), International Finance Corporation, World Bank. Mr. Sinha highlighted importance of corporate governance. He shared equator principle concept being implemented in commercial banks to mitigate risk and increase accountability of financial institutions . Ms Mukta Sharma , manager in forensic division of PWC was the guest speaker for technical session 1. She highlighted strategies adopted by corporate and financial institutions to commit fraud and how this fraud triangle can be broken. Mr. Vikas Arora, VP (commercial Banking), Yes Bank was the guest speaker for technical session 2 . Mr. Vikas explained about regulatory framework and risk mitigation strategy. He stressed on forensic accounting and forensic audit as a risk mitigation tool to minimize financial frauds. He also highlighted lack of depth in Indian market as a prominent factor for occurrence of financial frauds in India. The guest speaker for technical session 3 was Mr. Vineet Sharma , Deputy Vice president (zonal Head- North)- Transaction Banking Group) IndusInd Bank. Mr. Vineet highlighted about banking frauds and explained the relevance of KYC and KYE norms in banks. He also highlighted about LIBOR, sub prime crisis and Satyam modus operandi to commit financial fraud of such a huge quantum.

National Seminar

A National Seminar on "Emerging Role of Social Entrepreneurship in Economic Development: Issues, Challenges and Strategies, was held in collaboration with National Entrepreneurship Network on 12th December, 2013. The chief speakers were Ms Usha Prasad and Mr. Lalit Bhandari, from AArohi, who are actively, engaged in Livelihood Promotion Program me (LPP), which envisions enabling the poor to secure sustainable livelihoods as pivotal to its development initiatives. Mr. Piyush Gupta from EKO (India) Ltd. threw light upon innovation in the financial services rendered to rural India. Mr. Siiraj Saxena, a famous artist working in the tribal belts of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh spoke on creative and enterprising ways to solve many socio-economic problems such as poverty, illiteracy, and unemployment.

The chief guest on the occasion was Mr. Mahesh Gupta, President, PHD Chamber and Chairman and Managing Director, Kent RO systems Ltd.  Eminent personalities who addressed the gathering during the inaugural session were Mr. Rajesh Agarwal, Co-founder & Director, Micromax Informatics Ltd., Mr. Anurag Batra, Chairman & Editor-in-chief, Business World, Mr. C M Krishna, Hony. The third technical session was on “The Essence of Entrepreneurship: Creativity, Innovation and Opportunity”.  The chairperson of the panel was Mr. Ashu Agarwal, Business World Startups specialist.  Panel members included Mr. Sanjay Kapoor and Mr. Avinash Agarwal, Sr. Vice-President, EKO India Fin Services.
In the last technical session which was on “Research Paper Presentation” competition, thirteen Research papers were presented on various conference sub-themes. “The Best Research Paper “which covered a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- was won by Dr. Namita Rajput, Associate Professor and Mrs. Bharti, Assistant Professor on the subject “Does Environment Sensitivity Pay?  An Empirical Study of Indian Companies”.  The second prize of Rs. 5,000/- was won by Dr. Meenakshi Gandhi and Dr. Avanitak Raina on the subject “Motivators of Women Entrepreneurship in India- An Exploratory Study”.
The Conference which was well attended by Corporates, Academia and JIMS students was most successful as it provided participants with rich insights and perspectives on the various Conference sub-themes. Workshop on 'Integration with MARKSTRAT'

A workshop on 'Integration with MARKSTRAT' was held at JIMS, Kalkaji from 8th to 11th October, 2012. The Four day workshop was conducted by Dr. Suman Modwel, Emeritus Professor of Business Policy, ENPC School of International Management, Paris. Selected faculty members and students from various JIMS campuses attended this workshop. The Workshop made the members work on a simulation tool and helped them learn the concepts of segmentation ,brand portfolio strategy and positioning. On the final day all the teams presented their strategic key findings and results to Dr. Modwel, Dr. Satish Seth and Dr. AK Sengupta. It was a great learning exercise for the Participants.

Jims organized Mock Interviews for BBA (2010-13) batch. Top notch executives from corporates like Tata Motors, IndusInd bank, EXL (Finance) visited the campus to help them prepare for stress interviews by sharing their experiences.The exercise aimed at promoting academic-industry cooperation and preparing the students for the placement.
